I run workshops, give seminars, and guide clients on creating content that resonates. The common question I hear?
“How can I write content that people will read?”
Well, I could tell you now about all the writing rules I use.
But the philosophy of writing goes beyond the writing techniques (even tho you should take time to learn them as well).
Those are great tips, but they’re secondary.
The real secret to being a successful creator:
Sharing your truth.
It’s the best writing (life) advice I can give you.
To have an impact in this world, to change people’s lives, to be creative, to become the person you want to be, you have to share what you truly believe in.
Meaning:
- Develop your own thinking.
- Develop your own unique way of looking at the world.
- Develop your autonomy (we will go into how to do that in a sec).
But why does it matter that much?
It matters because when you share your truth, everything changes:
- You establish high inner peace
- Your relationships become more genuine
- You relate to people who had nobody to go to
- You inspire others with new ways of seeing the world
- You create adventures, opportunities, and collaborations you didn’t know were possible
And this is how you build a personal brand. This is how you build a brand that actually helps people.
Sharing your truth heals:
- It makes you your own person.
- It makes you develop your own thinking
- it will open up doors you didn’t even know were there.
- It makes you break free from the conditioning of society, parents, and teachers.
So that means for you:
- Dare to share your truth and people will connect with you.
- Dare to speak what other people don’t and you will have an impact on this world.
- Dare to share your most personal – because the most personal is the most universal.
The deeper your expression, the more people will resonate with your message.
Because here’s the thing:
Great writing isn’t about techniques. It’s about self-awareness.
The more you understand yourself, the deeper you connect with your audience.
From that lens, good writing has nothing to do with writing. And everything to do with:
How much are you able to think for yourself? How much do you know yourself?
Writing is about asking yourself: “Who am I”.
Ask yourself who you are and express your world even when it’s uncomfortable or unpopular.
I would even go so far and say, express your world especially when it’s uncomfortable or unpopular.
If you want to be a force in this world, you need to find your own voice. And you do that by expressing what your eyes see, what your ears hear, what your heart feels, and what your mind thinks.
Many people won’t do that though, cause not everyone will like what you write.
But that’s okay. In fact, it’s necessary. As the saying goes: “Those who never offend cannot be honest.”
Honesty is an act of courage. It means to take risks. It’s not safe, but it’s what sets you apart.
Too many people create generic content because they’re afraid of rejection. They censor themselves to fit in.
But when you embrace your truth, you stop being generic. You become a unique powerful voice in this world that has the potential to change people’s life for the better.
Honest writing:
- Introduces new ideas.
- Educates and inspires.
- Changes perspectives.
- Challenges popular ideas.
- Invites dialogue and debate.
- Makes the reader feel understood.
That’s how you build influence. Become your own person and people will listen to what you have to say.
